Malta will soon be home of the first SMART City in Europe following the recently announced agreement between the TECOM Group of Dubai and the local government.
TECOM Investments the founders of the Dubai Internet City plan to duplicate the same formula on the Maltese Islands imminently. Thanks to their collaboration with many global IT companies, one can expect the success of Dubai Internet City to further revitalise the Maltese Islands thanks to SmartCity. SmartCity Malta will take 10 - 14 years to develop in which thousands of people will make it their home as well as their place of work and place of entertainment.
Some facts & figures reveal that this will involve an investment of $300 million just to build SmartCity consisting of public areas, residential, commercial and an ICT & media business park. When complete the entire SmartCity project is expected to be valued at $3 billion.
